 WELCOME to Blue Swallowtail Studio's web site.

   Every piece of glass art for sale was designed and created by JoAn on site; visitors are encouraged to watch the process and are free to ask questions. Each and every piece is one of a kind.  

   We have a Gallery displaying the items for sale that I have designed and fused, or created in other media.

   I began designing glass jewelry in 2004, and started selling my creations at the Kansas Grown Farmers Market that Spring. The rest is history, I had so many requests to see my work other times of the year so I went looking for a store front. (The truth be known, I ran out of room at home.) The current location is my second site, this is our fourth year at this site.

 What We Do

My studio is unique in that the focus is on sharing the gift of creativity. I sell my created art in hopes that it will delight someone else. I love to help others discover their creative nature.  Seeing a student's delight after their creation is fused or fired and they get to hold and enjoy it makes my work pure joy.  I teach both glass classes and hand built pottery for children and adults. 

 Classes are designed for one or more. Scheduling is done for individuals or groups; I am quite flexible as to the hours and days.

I have been told by folks who have gone to Murano, Italy to the glass factory that my glass compares quite favorably with Murano glass. That is indeed  high praise. My joy is that I have the opportunity to work with so many beautiful colors and types of  glass to design and create items that I hope will enrich others lives. 

This piece was designed for my friend, a graphic designer, who designed my business cards and signage. It was modified before firing.
